The Most Versatile Virtual Learning Tool to Use Even Past School Closures

I miss seeing my students interacting with the language and laughing, there is no doubt about that. Nothing will ever replace the power of human connection and real communication, especially inside our world language classrooms.

When schools were forced to close their doors, I was saddened but felt pretty comfortable with setting up my virtual classroom. However, as a PD junkie, I bit the bait for more e learning website training opportunities. Heck! They were all free.

I know all teachers engaged in some type of online training over these school closures. So much, we all should be receiving some type of virtual learning endorsement from our respective states. One can only dream, right?

So, What Tech Tool Are You Referring To?

Out of all of the online learning platforms I explored, and believe me, there were many, there is one that really stood out to me, one that simplified my life, and transitioned my students to an effective online learning environment.

This tool surprised me with all of its rich functions and made me wonder where had it been all of my teaching career. I am so thankful to my friends, Lisa Jenay aka La Maestra McH and Claudia Elliott for introducing Go Formative to me

Here are my reasons as to why Go Formative is the best online learning platform I have seen and how it can help you:

  1. You can upload and assign your own worksheets that you already own and each individual student will have the ability to easily answer them online, all in one site.
  2. You can create every type of question every language teacher has probably thought about beyond formats you can think of. Teachers can use voice recording to ask questions, upload audio, pictures, video clips, etc. Students can even respond with voice and video record answers!!!
  3. It will cut your grading time depending on what you decide to assign.
  4. You will not overwhelm students with a ton of Apps and sites to visit and a million of things to download, this is really the only one site you will truly need to continue teaching effectively.
  5. For written answer submissions, Go Formative will tell you if an answer contains copy and pasted text from Google. Bye bye Google translate infractions!
  6. You can collaborate with your colleagues across the country or within your school’s department if you want to through their collaborative feature.
  7. It provides quality data to guide you in supporting your students’ learning through highly informed decision making. This makes it an excellent selling point to pitch it to your administration. It is currently free due to school closures, but personally, it is affordable even when it isn’t free. However, I have a feeling that you administration will fall in love with this learning platform.
  8. Go Formative is a highly teacher supportive company who listens to educator’s feedback.

As you can see, there is absolutely nothing to not love about Go Formative.

I want to add that I am not affiliated with Go Formative by any means. I just want to share its value and impact during the school closing and the value it will provide to my lessons in the future. I really  don’t want anyone to miss out on experiencing major alleviation in the fall, regardless if we are teaching virtual or at our school sites, I am hoping for the latter. I also want every teacher to experience teaching effectively and this tool really makes magic regardless of your teaching approach  to second language acquisition.
