Today, I am sharing some of my favorite podcasts for Spanish teachers. If you haven’t listened to these yet, you can bookmark all of these to a folder on your bookmarks bar for easy access.
Stay tuned for more posts featuring other types of Spanish teacher podcasts for different purposes as well. I can’t wait to share those, but one blog at a time to avoid the overwhelm.
For me, podcasts have several functions, they:
- Inspire
- Educate
- Challenge
As world language educators, these three things are essential. What a blessing to be able to do this even if we are a department of one or if we may not have the best relationships with our departments.
Now, here are some of the podcasts where I have spent much of my time throughout my teaching years. (Not in any particular order)
Top Podcasts for Spanish Teachers
This is an oldie but an all-time goodie. What I love about this podcast by Ashley Uyaguari is that she invites many teachers to share their perspectives, and that is what makes it stand out as such a unique podcast.
Although this podcast no longer produces episodes, it is still one of my favorite World Language teacher podcasts of all time!
I was also a guest speaker on this podcast. Check out the episode titled “A Shift to Teaching with Comprehensible Input”.
The Teaching La Vida Loca Podcast
I am forever grateful to Annabelle Wiliamson aka La Maestra Loca for teaching me soooo many truths and shifting so many of my perspectives throughout the years! I also enjoy the fact that, now, when we can’t get enough of La Maestra Loca, we can connect with her via her wonderful episodes at Teaching La Vida Loca!!! And if you know her, she is always keeping it real. If engagement ideas and inspiring honest conversations are what you’re looking for, then this is the podcast you must subscribe to!
The Motivated Classroom with Dr. Liam Printer Podcast
This weekly podcast is hosted by Dr. Liam Printer where he, along with his guests, break down all things language acquisition. I specifically enjoy how he connects his current educational research to his classroom practice. Every time you listen to Dr Printer’s podcast, you will learn new ideas or tweaks for your lessons!
The World Language Classroom Podcast with Joshua Cabral
I wholeheartedly appreciate the variety of speakers and topics Joshua Cabral from the World Language Classroom brings to his weekly podcast. Not only that, but his commentaries and questions for his guests always challenge my thinking. This podcast will challenge you too, as well as give you practical advice to improve your praxis.
I was also a guest speaker on this podcast. Check out the episode titled “What About Online Translators”.
The Preaching to Acquire with Kaitlin Leppert Podcast
The thought and empathy that comes from every episode is the signature of Kaitlin’s podcast. Heart is the word I would use to describe how she embraces her episodes. In her podcast, you will find a little bit of everything for every language teacher: ideas, inspiration, and connection.
I was a guest speaker on this podcast as well. Check out the episode titled Creating a Safe Space for Heritage and Undocumented Students
Where To Find More Podcasts for World Language Teachers
The list does not end here! Dr. Florencia Henshaw has put together the ultimate list of podcasts for WL educators! You can access the wakelet link here! In fact, Dr. Florencia Henshaw has her very own powerful podcast Unpacking Language Pedagogy, but I have a different blog post coming up for her type of podcast, so stay tuned!
